Community Service

The Krewe was founded in 1992 by 14 women who became friends through service to their community by working together on The 1991 Festival of Trees.  The Krewe by-laws require all new members to have volunteered time to charities in the Tampa Bay Area.  Our standing rules also require members to demonstrate continued volunteer service.

In 1997, the Krewe initiated the Aleta Goodson Community Service Award given to a member for outstanding volunteer work for charities in the Tampa Bay area.  Money is raised at auction and presented to the charity that the award winner designates.  Winners of this award are:

1997 - Janice Long
1998 - Joy Jones
1999 - Sylvia Campbell
2000 - Jeanne Rowe
2001 - Lynn Townsend
2002 - Ann Marie Critcher
2003 - Sally Harris
2004 - Roberta (Bobbie) Schofield
2005 - Linda Cone
2006 - Nancy Laskowitz
2007 - Cindy Hodgkins

The Emerging Youth Leaders Program,
through Pathfinder Outdoor Education, Inc., is a
growing program that provides a week long residential
camp as well as continued skill building and support
for the graduates of the program and volunteer staff.
It is a life changing experience where high school
students' awareness of diversity issues such as
racism, sexism, mass atrocities, privilege, and gender
issues are raised.  Team building and confidence
building are other important aspects of the week, as
well as youth/adult partnerships for effective
leadership. It is the most effective tool I have ever
seen to bring about social change.

Thank you for your support!
Sincerley, Cindy Hodgkins
